Cere's Base boasts a diverse range of distinct rooms and areas. Drawing inspiration from Tatooine's Watto workshop, Anakin's home, and Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge in Anaheim, I had the opportunity to indulge my inner Star Wars fanboy. And leave my mark by working on this area. It was an enjoyable experience crafting various versions of modular kits to highlight and add variety to these spaces.
To fill out these areas, I created all the sandstone meshes, sandstone material floors, doors, cables, and pipes exclusively. Additionally, I designed the greeble meshes, using Tim Wallace's Trim Sheet Kit, which was utilized in the Mantis and provided the foundation for most of the hardsurface assets in Cere's Base. The crates, lighting fixtures, and smaller detailed pieces found on the floor were sourced from our shared global kit. Adding intricate details to these nooks and crannies was the icing in the cake that brought this area to life.
For the custom work, I utilized Blender extensively. Blender's Geometry nodes enabled me to create the pipes and cables, while I manually crafted skirts to seamlessly blend the environment. I would export chunks of the enviroment out into Blender for the sole purpose of creating lots of custom meshes. I chose this workflow over blueprint because it was simply faster and more efficient for me.
Last but not least, credit where is due. The lighting was skillfully handled by the incredibly talented Mr. Stylish himself, Sam Santillo! I also had additional help from Pailin Bartlett to do small set dress touches. And i couldnt have done a lot of this without the support of my lead Kevin Quinn and Billy Matjiunis. But of course, without the direction and support of our art Director Nate Stephens.
